Unfortunately, that comfort can come with many distractions, and you may find yourself needing the right tools to stay motivated.

Set a schedule

Just because you are writing from home, this does not mean you should not set a schedule. Having a structured workday can help you meet your word count goals and ensure you dedicate enough time to researching and editing, whether this means setting times in the morning to research and write and time in the afternoon to edit, or just setting time for working and time for doing things around the house.

Eliminate distractions and create a workspace

While writing from home can provide an easy place to relax and write in comfort, it can also present distractions. From the TV to pets and family members, if you are looking for a way to get out of work, chances are there is something in your house that can accomplish the job. One way to get around this is to set up a dedicated workspace with limited distractions, making it easier to unplug from work.

Don’t forget self care

Freelance work means you can work anywhere and at any time, however this can also increase your risk of burnout. While writing from home, make sure you set time aside for self care. This can include celebrating small wins like completing an assignment with an episode of your favourite show. You should also set aside time in your schedule for exercise and social interactions. Not only will this help prevent burnout, but it will also make sure you are experiencing all the benefits of working from home.

Your name

Your email

Subject

Your message (optional)

One of the benefits of working as a freelance writer is the ability to work from home.
